Website requirements for merchant verification

Your website is part of the verification. Before a business account is approved, and from time to time afterwards, we look at the site to check that it matches the business described in your application. Here is what should be in place.

The website is live and publicly accessible

The site should be online and reachable by anyone — not a placeholder, a “coming soon” page or a domain that no longer resolves. If your site is behind a login or still in development, tell us and we can agree on another way to review it.

If your website goes offline, moves to a new domain or is being rebuilt, please let us know. An unreachable website is one of the most common reasons we get in touch with an existing merchant.

It is clear what you sell

Someone visiting your site should be able to see what is being offered and at what price. In practice that means:

  • a description of your products or services;
  • pricing;
  • how the goods or services are delivered;
  • contact details for your company;
  • terms of service, and a refund or returns policy where it applies.

The website should reflect the same business you described in your application.

How you will use CoinGate

If CoinGate is already integrated, it helps if the checkout is working when we look at it. Integrations do break — expired API keys, old URLs after a redesign, a plugin update — so it is worth testing your own checkout from time to time.

If you are just starting out and have not integrated anything yet, that is completely normal. Simply tell us how you plan to use CoinGate: at checkout through a plugin or the API, for sending invoices, or for receiving deposits only. Some merchants never show CoinGate at customer checkout at all, and that is fine — we just need to know.

Sanctioned jurisdictions

We cannot process transactions originating from sanctioned jurisdictions. This restriction needs to work in practice on your side, not only appear in your terms of service — an order from such a country should not be able to reach payment in the first place.

How you set this up is up to you. If you are not sure whether your current setup meets the requirement, describe it to us and we will confirm.

Demo access

If parts of your service are only visible to registered users, we may ask for demo or read-only credentials. Please check that the credentials work before sending them — it saves a round of emails for both of us.

Questions

If something here does not fit your business model, tell us how your setup works instead. Every merchant is reviewed individually, and an explanation is often all that is needed.
