We already take extensive security measures to ensure that your account is as safe as possible. However, there are some additional steps that we strongly recommend you take in order to protect your account from unauthorized access.
First off, keep in mind that CoinGate staff will never ask for your password, 2-factor authentication codes or any other login credentials. If anyone who claims to be associated with CoinGate Support requests such information, please contact us immediately. We will also never ask you to install a remote login or remote support software on your devices.
Here’s what you can do to improve upon your security:
- Use a complex and unique password. Preferably, the password shouldn’t be used anywhere else or shared with other people. It's also a good idea to change your password periodically (about every 3 months) and use a completely new password each time.
- Use password managers. Credential managing is much easier when using secure, encrypted password storage such as 1Password or LastPass.
- Use 2FA (2-factor authentication). One of the most effective ways to secure your account is by enabling Google 2FA on your CoinGate account. Learn how to set it up.
- Use a trustworthy antivirus. Security software protects your devices from crypto malware, ransomware and other types of internet threats.
